New Design Coming Soon!

Please pardon the lack of articles recently. Rest assured, I’m alive and well, and my books and The Kelly Letter continue as usual. I’m more than well, actually, as a screen shot from Amazon’s bestselling stock books demonstrates:

No stock book should ever outsell The Intelligent Investor, so coming in second to that is fine. It’s like being called the second best World War II military commander in North Africa. Come on history buffs, you know number one has to be George S. Patton.

The reason this free site has been quiet lately is that I’m working with a designer to unveil a brand new look.

After discussing the site with subscribers and readers, I compiled a wish list of features and changes that I’m now implementing. The site will also be more attractive in anticipation of the June release of my new book from John Wiley & Sons, called Financially Stupid People Are Everywhere: Don’t Be One of Them. We’re working up quite a marketing campaign, and a fresh look here is part of that.

The site won’t just be prettier, however. It will also be more functional. I’ll be able to share audio and video commentary more cleanly than I can within Blogger posts, and will expand those offerings to include my own material as well. I’ve done that in the past, but not as much as I’d like or as much as has been requested. The technology exists now to usurp the talking heads of mainstream media with the talking heads of independent thinking, and I want to participate more in that.

I’ll also be leaving Blogger after almost eight years of faithful service from that platform. Despite having been acquired by Google, Blogger hasn’t kept pace with other blogging platforms, namely WordPress, to which I’m migrating. This redesign happens at a fortuitous moment, because Blogger announced two months ago that it would be ending support for FTP blogs on May 1. An FTP blog is one that’s published away from the provided hosting, such as Blogger’s blogspot.com. While there are many well-done blogs at blogspot, the general impression is that professionals write (blog) at their own domain name. In my case, that’s jasonkelly.com. Blogger has decided to cut off its most professional users, which are a thin slice of their base to be sure, and will lose me because of that. I leave with no ill will. Blogger served me well for eight years, but it’s time to upgrade and being cut off just as I reach that conclusion confirms that it’s the right conclusion.

So, please be patient while we get through the last couple weeks of design. I’ll send an announcement to members of my free list when the new site is up and regular article posting resumes. If you haven’t joined that yet, please enter your email address at the top of this page to do so. No spam, and you can cancel at any time.

See you back here soon!
